As mentioned in her Wikipedia entry,
Pat Cadigan is likely the only cyberpunk author to have made a living at one time writing for Hallmark Cards! She was one of the
original authors in the SF sub-genre, which is generally perceived as an even more male-centered genre than science fiction itself was in the earlier days.
Robert Heinlein in part dedicated his 1982 novel Friday to her.
She maintains a livejournal blog which is almost shocking in it's casual tone and cheekiness. Lots of birthday greetings, which I guess shouldn't be so surprising from one who once worked for Hallmark.
She also has her own Flickr page, currently featuring nude bicyclists among other things (there are sets at science fiction conventions and the like as well).
As her Fantastic Fiction page notes, she has twice won the Arthur C. Clarke award.
